Yokohama Tire And Nitro RX Roll Into US

Yokohama Tire and Nitro Rallycross are back in the U.S. for three races which includes two stops in the southwest.
Nitro RX returns to the states, packed with even more action.

Home sweet home: Yokohama Tire and Nitro Rallycross (Nitro RX) are back in the U.S. for three races, beginning with an October 1-2 date at ERX Motor Park in Elk River, Minnesota. Yokohama, the Official Tire Supplier of Nitro RX, rolls into the event ready to support a myriad of classes during what promises to be an action-packed weekend.

“Rallycross is extremely demanding and Nitro RX takes those demands to the next level…and then some!” said Fardad Niknam, Yokohama’s senior director of product planning and product marketing. “Between our FIA-approved ADVAN A054, ADVAN A006, and GEOLANDAR A/T G015 tires, we’re ready to meet the challenge.”

Several of Yokohama’s brand ambassadors and partner drivers will be on hand at the event.  Last year’s series champ, Travis Pastrana, will join Andrew Carlson in Group E, piloting all-electric FC1-Xs fitted with A006 tires. “The four-motor, four-wheel-drive FC1-X is a beast,” Niknam said. “It’s the first-ever purpose-built car with 1055 horsepower and goes from 0-60 mph in 1.4 seconds.”

Travis Pastrana flying high during a Nitro RX event, but this year there will also be a UTV race.

Leticia Bufoni, who is a six-time X Games gold medalist, the first-ever Street League Skateboarding Super Crown champion, and a member of the 2020 Brazilian Olympic skateboard team, will be racing for Yokohama in the SxS competition on G015 tires, as well Scottie Lawrence, who is coming off of his podium finish at this month’s Crandon World Championships.

While this will be Bufoni’s first foray into UTV motorsports competition, she’s ready to rock. “I’m super-excited about jumping into Nitro RX and being a part of the Yokohama family,” she said. “Love the competition and can’t wait to talk with Travis and Scottie about how to handle the Can-Am in a race setting and Andrew about how to tackle the course.  I want to be competitive and continue to get better race by race. This is going to be fun!”

After ERX Motor Park the series heads to Glen Helen Raceway in Southern California on October 29th and 30th. The last US stop of the series is November 12th and 13th at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler, Arizona. For more information on Team Yokohama, visit their website.
