On the trail or in the dunes there are plenty of things that push the vehicle’s limits to the point of failure. One part that you don’t want to fail at any time is having your wheel fall off.

Stage 8 Fasteners created a product to help prevent this with its X-Lock spindle nuts. Upgrading the front hubs on our Class 2000 race truck we wanted to make sure that with the abuse we were giving it, that our wheel would stay attached.

The X-Lock locking spindle nut system was designed by Stage 8 owner Bruce Bennet for the military and Caterpillar but was scaled down to off-road vehicles. The military came to Bennet for a solution for their Humvees which expanded to Caterpillar earthmovers.

Installing the X-Lock spindle nut did not require anything special to install and did not take any more time to install than it would be to install a typical spindle nut. We were putting on big-bearing Dana 44 hubs to support our 37-inch tires, and the X-Lock was a no-brainer.
